What is the "Level of Play" in the Annex Basketball League?
With 3 gyms going each season, an effort is made to group teams according to skill level. The 3 groups are generally as follows;
Mondays: For the more competitive players. Teams with former university / college players and a big man or two (6'6" - 6'8"+) in the middle. Ideal for those looking for a competitive run within a safe game of basketball.
Tuesdays: Most players have had previous experience playing organized basketball; from being in other leagues, playing in high school or even college / university. Like myself, many are looking for a good 'run' to get back in shape, or keep in shape. There are talented players, but no ally-oop slam-dunking, NBA prospects in the making. Most of us are looking to build up a good sweat, in a competitive, yet safe game of basketball.
Tuesdays at Bishop M: Teams with players that have high school or limited experience playing organized basketball. Perhaps they played college ball years ago and are looking for a run again. Teams are looking to build up a good sweat, in a competitive, yet safe game of basketball, but generally have no 'Big Man' presence in the middle (centers range in height up to about 6'4")
What age are the players in the Annex Basketball League?
The ages tend to range from 19 up to 40-something, but approximately 80% of the players have been in the mid 20's to thirty-something range. Regardless of age, if you're looking for a good 'run' and want to build up a sweat playing organized basketball, this may be the league for you.
When does the next session begin?
Check the present schedule of the league you wish to join to see when it ends. The next session usually starts within a week or two later.
How do I register for the Annex Basketball League?
Simply fill out our Registration Application form. Be sure to include your name, email address, phone number where you can be reached day or evening, which night you are interested in (eg Monday or Tuesday). We ask for your height, age and playing experience (to help me place you at an appropriate level). The league administrator will then send you an email confirming your spot(s) in the Annex Basketball League (based on availability) or that you have been added to a waitlist. Should teams withdraw, vacant spots will be filled via the waitlist. The League Adminstrator can be emailed at peter@annexbasketball.com

What about Team Uniforms?
You can wear your own team set of uniforms if you have them (jerseys MUST have a number on the front and back as per refs requirement). If your team needs uniforms your players can purchase a reversible mesh basketball type tank top from the league on the first (or second) night of the season. It is blue on one side and white on the other, with the league logo and numbers on both fronts and numbers on both backs. The reversible top ensures another team won't have the same colour tops as your team on any given night. The cost is $25. You can wear this top in all subsequent seasons and only new players to the league/your team would need to purchase a top.
That way you do not need a completely new set of uniforms every time your team roster changes. The Annex Basketball League runs 3 seasons per year (starting in approx September, January, and June) so you should get lots of use out of these tops.
